Configuring Course Lesson Auto-Progression and Learner Controls
Streamlining the Learning Journey
This guide explains how to use the CRM's learner experience controls and auto-progression features to create a seamless flow for students moving through your course content. By enabling automatic video playback, smart lesson completion, and continuous progression, you can reduce interruptions and help learners stay focused.
Understanding the Controls
The learner experience controls are a set of course-level settings that determine how students interact with your lessons. You can choose whether lessons start automatically, whether the course automatically advances to the next lesson, and how lesson completion is handled. These options are ideal for tailoring the experience for guided, structured courses or for self-paced, binge-style learning.
Key Benefits
Using these controls offers several advantages for both the course creator and the learner.
- Reduced Friction: Learners can move through content with fewer clicks and manual steps, minimizing distractions.
- Automatic Progression: An "Up Next" card appears at the end of a lesson, allowing learners to either let a countdown timer advance them automatically or to click a "Play Now" button to proceed immediately.
- Smarter Completion Tracking: Text lessons are automatically marked complete when a learner navigates forward. Video lessons are marked complete based on meaningful viewing progress when the learner moves on. This ensures accurate progress tracking for certificates or completion-based workflows.
- Design Flexibility: You can apply different settings to different courses, supporting various teaching styles and pacing requirements.
- Consistency Across Courses: An "Apply to All Courses" feature lets you quickly standardize these settings across your entire course catalog.
How to Configure Learner Experience Controls
Follow these steps to adjust the settings for a specific course.
- Navigate to Memberships in the main menu.
- Select Courses and then Products.
- Open the course you wish to edit.
- Click on the Settings tab.
- Locate the Learning Experience Controls section.
Within this section, you will find the following options:
- Auto-Start First Lesson: When enabled, the first lesson will begin playing automatically as soon as a learner enters the course.
- Auto-Play Next Lesson: This setting allows the course to automatically proceed to the following lesson after the current one ends.
- Auto-Complete Lessons: This option automatically marks lessons as complete as the learner progresses through them.
After making your selections, use the Apply to All Courses button if you want to use the same settings for all your courses. Finally, save your changes and use the preview function to test the learner's experience.
Note: These enhancements are enabled by default to provide a smooth experience. You can use the controls described above to customize or override these default behaviors for each course.
