Understanding Funnel and Stage Distribution Widgets

Funnel Widget

The Funnel widget provides a visual representation of how opportunities progress through a pipeline. It displays a step-by-step sequence where the number of opportunities typically decreases as they move from one stage to the next, illustrating the conversion flow.

To select a specific pipeline for the funnel, use the dropdown menu within the widget. For a pipeline's data to appear in the Funnel widget, two conditions must be met:

  • The user must have the Dashboard stats permission enabled.
  • The 'Visible in Funnel Chart' toggle must be activated within the settings for that specific pipeline.

The widget calculates the number of opportunities in each stage based on the last date the opportunity's status was changed, not the date it was created.

Interpreting Funnel Widget Data

The funnel is divided into sections. The first section represents the initial stage of the pipeline and shows the total number of opportunities that have entered the pipeline, regardless of their current status (Open, Lost, Won, or Abandoned).

Each subsequent section shows a cumulative count. It displays the total number of opportunities that have reached that specific stage or any stage after it, including all opportunities in the pipeline that have a status of Won. This means Won opportunities are included in the count for every stage section.

For example, if a pipeline has stages named 'Registered', 'Trial Purchased', and 'Lesson Watched', the calculation for each section would be:

  • Registered: Total opportunities in the entire pipeline.
  • Trial Purchased: Opportunities in 'Trial Purchased', 'Lesson Watched', and all Won opportunities.
  • Lesson Watched: Opportunities in 'Lesson Watched' and all Won opportunities.
  • Won: Only opportunities with a Won status.

The widget also displays conversion rates. The cumulative conversion rate shows the percentage of opportunities that started in the first stage and successfully reached the final Won stage. The next-step conversion rate shows the percentage of opportunities that moved from one specific stage to the very next stage in the sequence.

Revenue figures within each section are calculated using the same sequential, cumulative logic applied to the opportunity counts.

Stage Distribution Widget

The Stage Distribution widget presents a different view of your pipeline data. Instead of showing a sequential flow, it displays a snapshot of how many open opportunities are currently in each individual stage. Opportunities with a Won or Lost status are grouped and displayed in separate sections.

The conversion rate shown for each stage indicates the percentage of all opportunities that have reached that specific stage.

Similar to the Funnel widget, you can use a dropdown menu to switch between different pipelines. To view a pipeline in this widget, you must have Dashboard stats permission and the 'Visible in Pie Chart' toggle must be enabled in the pipeline's settings.
