A2P Campaign Registration: Complete Guide
About A2P Campaign Registration
After your brand registration is approved as part of the A2P 10DLC setup, the next required step is to register a campaign associated with that brand. This step is mandatory before you can begin sending Application-to-Person messages using 10DLC phone numbers.
An A2P campaign defines how your business uses SMS messaging, including details such as the type of messages you send, who receives your messages, and how contacts opt in to receive messages. Your campaign works together with your brand registration:
- Brand - Identifies who is sending the messages
- Campaign - Defines what messages are being sent, why they are sent, and how consent is collected
Carriers use campaign registration to evaluate compliance, messaging intent, and user consent. Accurate campaign details are critical for approval and long-term message deliverability.
Before You Begin
Before starting campaign registration, ensure your brand registration has already been submitted and approved, or that you are continuing directly from the brand registration flow. If you haven't completed brand registration yet, you should start with that process first.
Campaign approval is handled by carriers and registration partners. Your CRM provides the registration workflow in Trust Center, but approval depends on the accuracy and compliance of the information you submit.
Understanding Messaging Use Cases
When registering a campaign, you must select a use case type that accurately describes the purpose of your SMS or MMS messages. Choosing the correct campaign type is essential to meet industry compliance standards, avoid message filtering or blocking, and maintain trust with carriers and recipients.
Use cases represent the specific purpose of your communications, such as customer care, two-factor authentication, or marketing messages.
Accessing Campaign Registration
There are two ways to access campaign registration:
If you're completing A2P registration for the first time, you may continue into campaign details immediately after completing the brand registration steps.
If your brand is already approved and you want to create another campaign, you can start from Trust Center:
- Navigate to Settings > Phone System > Trust Center tab
- In the A2P Messaging (SMS) card, click Brand & Campaigns
- Open the Campaigns tab and click Create Campaign
- Select the brand you want to create the campaign for from the dropdown menu
Registering Your A2P Campaign
Step 1: Select Your Messaging Volume
The first step in campaign registration is selecting your messaging volume. The available options depend on your brand type:
If you have a Tax ID, choose the messaging volume option that best matches your business texting needs:
- Low Volume Standard Brand - For businesses with lower messaging volume and throughput needs. Supports multiple phone numbers and allows up to 6,000 SMS segments per day.
- High Volume Standard Brand - For businesses that send larger volumes of messages and require higher throughput. Supports multiple phone numbers and allows up to 600,000 SMS segments per day.
If you do not have a Tax ID, the only available option is single-number registration. Note that only one number can be linked to this registration, though you can change the number later.
Step 2: Choose Setup Method
After selecting your messaging volume, choose your preferred registration flow:
- Quick Setup - Recommended for most standard campaigns. This is the fastest path and helps reduce compliance mistakes by using a CRM-generated text opt-in widget. Ideal if you want several campaign fields pre-filled and prefer the lowest-risk path.
- Manual Setup - Provides more control over each campaign field and supports custom opt-in methods. Choose this if you collect consent through existing website forms, paper forms, Facebook lead forms, QR codes, kiosks, verbal consent, or other approved methods.
Manual setup may take longer and has a higher chance of mistakes or delays since each field must be completed manually.
