What is SHAKEN/STIR?

SHAKEN/STIR is a security framework designed to authenticate and verify the legitimacy of caller ID information. It uses digital certificates to confirm your ownership of a phone number, allowing carriers to trust that your outgoing calls are genuine. When properly enabled, this system can cause your calls to display as "Trusted Call" on recipient devices, increasing the likelihood that they will answer.

Requirements for Registration

To register for SHAKEN/STIR, you must have an Employer Identification Number (EIN). If you do not have an EIN, we recommend using the Free Call Registry alternative for your phone number verification needs.

How to Enable SHAKEN/STIR

If you have already registered for A2P SMS: Your phone numbers are automatically enrolled in SHAKEN/STIR. This applies to all new A2P applications submitted after April 23, 2025, and older sub-accounts are being updated automatically as well.

If you have not registered for A2P SMS: You can manually enable SHAKEN/STIR for your numbers through the trust center in your CRM.

Maximizing Effectiveness

For best results, combine SHAKEN/STIR with CNAM registration, which displays your business name alongside your phone number. This combination further enhances caller trust and recognition.
