Connecting Your Domain Using Domain Connect

About the Domain Connect Feature

The Domain Connect feature simplifies the process of linking your purchased domain to your CRM. Instead of manually editing DNS records, which can be technical and error-prone, Domain Connect can automatically detect and configure settings with your domain provider in just a few clicks. This works for both your main domain (like yourdomain.com) and subdomains (like www.yourdomain.com).

Before You Begin

Important: This feature is for connecting an existing domain you own; it does not provide domain registration or hosting. You must have already purchased your domain from a supported provider. Currently, the automated Domain Connect process works with domains registered through Google Domains, GoDaddy, or Cloudflare.

For Cloudflare Users

If you use Cloudflare's proxy service, you must ensure the proxy is turned off for the DNS records the CRM creates. This is typically done within your Cloudflare dashboard after the connection is made.

How to Connect Your Domain

  1. Log into your CRM sub-account and go to Settings > Domains.
  2. Click the Add Domain button.
  3. In the field provided, type in your root domain (e.g., yourbusiness.com) or a specific subdomain.
  4. If you are adding a root domain, you will see an option to Also add www domain. Toggle this on if you want the 'www' version of your site (e.g., www.yourbusiness.com) to work as well.
  5. Click Continue.
  6. If your domain is with Google Domains, GoDaddy, or Cloudflare, a button labeled Authorize will appear. Click it.
  7. A new window or tab will open, taking you to your domain provider's website. Follow their prompts to log in and grant permission for the CRM to manage your DNS records. This step automatically adds the correct records for you.
  8. Critical Step: Once you have completed the authorization on your provider's site, close that tab or window and return to the CRM tab in your browser. For Google Domains specifically, the process will not finalize until you close their tab and return.
  9. The CRM will process the connection. You should see a confirmation once it's complete. DNS changes can take a short time to propagate, but often work within 30 seconds.

If Your Provider Isn't Supported

If your domain is not with one of the three supported providers, you can still connect it manually. The interface will provide you with the specific DNS records (like A records or CNAME records) you need to add. You must then log into your domain registrar's website and create these records yourself in their DNS management section.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I still configure my domains manually instead of using Domain Connect?

Yes. Manual DNS configuration is always available as an option, whether you prefer it or your domain provider is not currently supported for automatic connection.

What if my domain provider is not Google Domains, GoDaddy, or Cloudflare?

You will need to use the manual configuration method. The CRM will display the necessary DNS records for you to copy and paste into your domain provider's DNS settings panel.

What happens if I enable "Also add www domain" but my www subdomain is already pointed somewhere else?

The CRM will create a new DNS record pointing the www subdomain to its servers. However, it cannot remove any existing records you have set up elsewhere. If an old record exists, it may cause a conflict. You would need to log into your domain provider's dashboard and delete the previous CNAME or A record for the www subdomain to ensure it works correctly with the CRM.
