Managing Site Projects for SEO Monitoring and Analysis
Understanding Site Projects
A Site Project is a centralized dashboard for monitoring and improving the search engine optimization (SEO) of a specific website or domain. This feature consolidates key metrics like domain authority, search traffic estimates, backlink profiles, and technical health scores into a single view, giving you a comprehensive picture of your website's SEO performance.
What a Site Project Tracks
When you create a Site Project, the CRM's SEO tools will begin collecting and displaying data for that domain. The main metrics you will see include:
- Domain Power: A calculated score representing the overall authority and ranking potential of the website.
- Backlinks: The total number of inbound links pointing to the site, including the number of unique referring domains.
- Organic Traffic: An estimate of the monthly visits the site receives from search engines.
- Site Health: A percentage score that summarizes the technical SEO status based on a site audit.
- SEO Issues: The total count of technical problems identified during an audit.
If you connect your Google Search Console account, the project will also display real performance data, such as total clicks and keyword rankings.
Creating a New Site Project
Step 1: Initiate the Project
Navigate to the Sites > SEO > Site Projects section in your CRM dashboard. Click the New Site Project button. In the form that appears, enter the full homepage URL of the website you wish to monitor.
Step 2: Connect Google Search Console (Optional)
For the most accurate performance data, it is highly recommended to connect your Google Search Console account. You will be prompted to authorize the connection with your Google account and then select the correct website property. This step can be skipped and completed later if you prefer.
Step 3: Review the Project
After submitting the form, the system will begin fetching initial data. The new site will appear in your Site Projects table. Please note that some metrics may display as pending or zero until the initial data collection is complete.
Analyzing Your Site Project
To dive deeper into the data, click on the site's row in the table or a View button. For a full suite of analytical tools, click Launch Advanced SEO. This will open a detailed dashboard with several tabs for that specific site.
Key Dashboard Tabs
- Overview: Provides a summary of high-level metrics like Domain Power and traffic trends.
- Organic Keywords: Shows the keywords your site ranks for, including their search volume and ranking positions.
- Backlinks: Offers a detailed breakdown of your backlink profile.
- Top Pages: Lists the pages on your site that receive the most traffic.
- Site Audit: Displays the Site Health score and a list of technical SEO issues that need attention.
Leveraging Google Search Console Data
Connecting Google Search Console enriches your Site Project with authentic performance data directly from Google. This integration automatically imports keyword and page-level data, providing insights you can't get from estimates alone.
What Data is Imported
- Up to 10,000 ranking keywords for the site, complete with impressions, clicks, and average position.
- Performance data for up to 2,000 of the site's pages.
You can access this data within the advanced SEO interface under a section like Site Metrics > GSC Performance. Use the available filters to analyze data by date range, specific queries, or pages to identify opportunities for improvement.
Connecting a site to Google Search Console uses one of your available project slots but does not consume additional tool credits. Data updates are automatic once the connection is established.
