Automating Evergreen Social Content with Category Queues
What Is a Category Queue?
A Category Queue is a tool that allows you to organize social media posts into groups based on a shared category and publish them automatically on a recurring schedule. Once the queue finishes publishing all posts, it loops back to the beginning, making it ideal for sharing evergreen content that remains relevant over time.
Key Benefits of Category Queues
- Automated Scheduling: Continuously publish content without manual intervention.
- Content Repurposing: Reuse existing posts and automatically include new ones assigned to the same category.
- Priority Control: Decide whether new posts are added to the beginning or end of the queue.
- Custom Scheduling: Set specific days and times for publishing.
- Flexible Management: Easily edit, pause, resume, or delete queues as needed.
Before You Begin
Ensure that any published posts you want to include in a queue are already assigned to a social category. You can also create a new category during the queue setup process.
How to Create a Category Queue
Navigate to Marketing > Social Planner. Click + New Post and choose Category Queue. Select an existing category or create a new one. Enable the option to automatically include future posts in the same category. Choose whether to prioritize new content at the beginning or end of the queue. Click Continue to set your publishing days and time slots. Review and edit posts as needed, then click Queue Posts to activate.
How to Manage a Category Queue
Go to Marketing > Social Planner > Content > Category Queue. Click the More options icon next to your queue to access management tools.
Edit a Category Queue
Select Edit queue to modify post details, captions, media, publishing frequency, time slots, or post order without deleting the queue.
Configure Queue Preferences
Choose Queue preferences to control how future posts are added—either automatically or manually, and at the beginning or end of the queue.
View the Queue Calendar
Select View queue calendar to see your queue in weekly or monthly view, helping you identify scheduling gaps or content-heavy days.
Reschedule the Entire Queue
Use Reschedule queue to shift all posts to a new start date while maintaining the existing publishing frequency.
Add Posts from the Post Composer
While creating a social post, select Add to Queue and choose a category to include it in the corresponding queue.
Pause, Resume, or Delete a Queue
Use the status toggle to pause or resume a queue, or select Delete to remove it entirely.
Important Notes
- Category Queues can include both published and new posts.
- Rescheduling individual posts within a queue is not supported.
- Changes to queue preferences apply from the next cycle onward.
- Queue status (active, paused, or draft) can be reviewed under Marketing > Social Planner > Settings > Categories.
