Using the Link Shortener in Social Planner

The Link Shortener is a feature built into the CRM's Social Planner tool. It automatically transforms long website addresses into compact links for your social media posts. The original, full URL stays visible to you while you're composing the post, but the published version on your social channels will show the neat, shortened link. This helps keep your posts looking clean and professional.

Key Benefits

  • Cleaner Posts: Shortened links prevent long URLs from cluttering your social media content.
  • Improved Readability: Followers see a concise link, making the post easier to read.
  • Automatic Processing: The feature works automatically—just activate it and the link is shortened for you.
  • Preview Functionality: See exactly how the shortened link will appear in your post before you publish it.
  • Platform-Wide Support: Works for all the social media accounts you have connected within Social Planner.

Follow these steps to shorten a link when creating a social media post.

Step 1: Create a New Post

Navigate to Marketing > Social Planner from the main menu. Click the + New Post button and select Create New Post.

Step 2: Compose Your Post

Select the social accounts you want to publish to and type your post content into the text box.

Click the URL Shortener icon located near the content editor. A window will appear where you can:

  • Enter a name for the link.
  • Paste the full, long URL you want to shorten.
  • Set up tracking details by selecting or creating a UTM campaign and adding custom parameters.

Click the Generate and Insert Link button.

Step 4: Review and Publish

After inserting the link, you will see the shortened version in the post preview panel, while the original URL remains in the content editor. Review your post and then choose to Publish or Schedule it.

  • Content vs. Preview: The full URL is always visible to you in the editor for reference, but only the shortened link appears in the preview and published post.
  • Automatic Conversion: The process is fully automated once you click the shortener icon; no manual link replacement is needed.

You can track the performance of your shortened links directly within Social Planner. Navigate to Marketing > Social Planner > Statistics > URL Tracking to see analytics for every link you share.

  • Comprehensive Analytics: Track total clicks for each URL and see performance broken down by social platform (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.).
  • Campaign Grouping: Links assigned the same campaign name are grouped together in analytics, making it easy to compare performance across different posts.
  • Filtering: Use filters to identify your top-performing and low-performing links.
  • Link Preview: Clicking on any URL in the statistics page shows a preview panel so you know exactly which link you are analyzing.
