Creating and Selling Products in Your CRM Store
Your CRM includes a powerful storefront to sell a wide variety of products, from physical goods and digital downloads to subscription services. This guide walks you through the entire process of creating a product listing and making it available for purchase.
How to Create a Product
A product listing is the foundation of your online store. Follow these steps to create a new product.
Step 1: Navigate to the Products Section
To begin, go to Payments > Products in your CRM's main navigation. On the Products page, click the + Create Product button.
Step 2: Fill in Product Information
This section is where you define the core details of your product.
- Include in Online Store: Use this toggle to control whether the product is visible and available for purchase on your public storefront.
- Title: Enter the name of your product. This is a required field and will be displayed to customers.
- Description: Provide a detailed description of your product. You can use text formatting tools to make it more engaging.
- Media: Upload an image or video to represent your product visually. For best results, use a square image with a resolution of 1024x1024 pixels and a file size under 10MB.
- Enable Product Label: Check this box to assign a custom label, such as "New" or "Featured," to the product.
- Product Collection: Use the dropdown menu to assign the product to an existing collection, which helps with organizing your catalog.
Step 3: Configure Tax Options
Set up how taxes are handled for this product.
- Product Tax Code: Select a specific tax category to enable automatic tax calculations at checkout. If you leave this blank, your default global tax settings will be applied.
- Include tax in prices: Choose whether the displayed product price includes tax or if tax will be added separately.
- Attach Tax Rates: This option is useful for manual tax handling or for sales to buyers outside the U.S.
- Statement Descriptor: You can customize the description that appears on your customer's bank or credit card statement for this product.
Step 4: Set Pricing
Define the price and billing structure for your product.
- Pricing Name: Enter an internal name to help you identify this pricing plan, especially if you offer multiple options.
- Type: Select either One time for a single payment or Recurring for a subscription with regular billing cycles.
- Amount: Set the price you will charge.
- Compare-at Price: Optionally, enter an original price to show customers a discount.
- Currency: Select the currency for the transaction.
- Track Inventory: Check this box if you need to monitor and limit the stock quantity for this product.
- Price Description: Add an internal note about this pricing option.
Product Types Explained
One-Time Products: These are ideal for single transactions, such as a one-off service or a physical item. The customer is charged once.
Recurring Products: Use this for subscriptions or services billed on a schedule (e.g., monthly or annually). When adding a recurring product to an invoice, you must configure the payment schedule, including the billing frequency and start date.
Step 5: Add Product Variants
If your product comes in different versions, such as pricing tiers or access levels, you can create variants.
- Start by adding an Option name (e.g., "Membership Level").
- Then, enter the specific Option values (e.g., "Basic," "Pro").
- You can set a unique price, compare-at price, and inventory quantity for each variant.
Step 6: Optimize Search Engine Settings
The Search Engine Listing section allows you to customize how your product appears in search engine results. This helps potential customers find your product more easily online.
Making Products Available for Sale
After creating your product, you need to place it where customers can find it. The primary method is by using an Order Element on your website or funnel pages.
- Navigate to the page editor for your site or funnel.
- Add an Order Element to the page.
- Within the element's settings, you can select the specific products you want to display.
- This element creates a buy button or a product listing that integrates directly with your CRM's checkout system.
By following these steps, you can build a complete product catalog and start accepting orders through your CRM-powered store.
