Understanding Tax Categories in Your CRM

What Are Tax Categories?

Tax categories are used in your CRM to ensure accurate tax calculations for products, services, and subscriptions. Each category has a unique ID and a descriptive name that helps apply the correct tax rates based on customer location and your configured nexus addresses.

How to Use Tax Categories

Assigning a Tax Category

When creating or editing a product or setting defaults for a sub-account, select the appropriate Tax Category Name from the dropdown menu in the user interface.

Tax Calculation Process

Your CRM uses the selected Tax Category Name to determine the correct tax rate for transactions. This ensures compliance with local and international tax regulations based on the customer’s location and your business’s nexus addresses.

Important Notes

Regularly review your tax categories to stay compliant with changes in tax laws. If a transaction is not taxable, select the Non-Taxable category to ensure no tax is applied.
