Trigger Description
This trigger is activated immediately after an order is successfully placed by a customer. It is commonly used to automate actions like sending order confirmation emails, updating the customer's record in the CRM, or triggering inventory management tasks. You can also set up filters to make the workflow run only for orders that meet specific criteria.
How to Configure the Trigger
Follow these steps to set up an Order Placed trigger in your workflow.
Step 1: Select the Trigger
When creating or editing a workflow, choose Order Placed from the list of available triggers.
Step 2: Name Your Trigger
Give the trigger a clear and descriptive name, such as "High-Value Order Processing," to easily identify its purpose later.
Step 3: Apply Filters (Optional)
You can add conditions to control when the workflow runs. For the Order Placed trigger, you can filter based on the cart value.
- Cart Value: The total monetary value of the items in the customer's cart. This is an optional filter.
- Operator: Choose a comparison operator, such as Equals, Greater Than, or Less Than, to define the condition for the cart value.
- Value: Enter the specific amount to compare against the cart value.
Example Use Case
A company wants to reward customers who make large purchases. The goal is to automatically send a thank-you email with a discount code for their next order to any customer whose order totals $150 or more.
Configuration Steps
- Set the workflow trigger to Order Placed.
- Add a filter: Set Cart Value to Greater than or Equal to $150.
- Add the following actions to the workflow:
- Send an automated thank-you email to the customer that includes a unique discount coupon.
- Update the customer's profile in the CRM to mark them as a loyalty program member.
This automation ensures that valuable customers feel appreciated immediately after their purchase, which helps build long-term loyalty and encourages repeat business.
