Workflow Trigger - Order Submitted
What is the Order Submitted Workflow Trigger?
The Order Submitted trigger activates a workflow whenever a customer completes an order through an order form in your CRM. This trigger captures both the initial purchase and any subsequent upsells or bumps, making it a powerful tool for automating post-purchase actions.
Key Benefits
Using the Order Submitted trigger offers several advantages:
- Automated Engagement: Instantly send order confirmations or follow-up offers.
- Revenue Growth: Create upsell workflows to increase average order value.
- Efficiency: Reduce manual tasks by automating order-related processes.
- Detailed Data: Access comprehensive order details like product names, quantities, and prices for use within your workflow.
Order Submitted vs. Order Form Submitted
It's important to distinguish between these two triggers:
- Order Submitted: Fires for each product purchased (including upsells and bumps) and allows filtering by product, price, and other details.
- Order Form Submitted: Fires once per entire order submission, regardless of how many products were purchased, and offers limited filtering options.
Configuring the Order Submitted Trigger
Access Workflow Builder
Navigate to the Automation section and select Workflows. You can either create a new workflow or edit an existing one.
Add Order Submitted Trigger
Click Add New Trigger in the workflow builder. Search for "Order Submitted" and select it from the list. You can then apply filters to customize when the trigger activates.
Naming the Trigger
Give your trigger a clear, descriptive name to make it easily identifiable when managing your workflows.
Applying Filters
Filters allow you to specify conditions that must be met for the workflow to trigger.
Global Product
Trigger the workflow based on a specific product or price. Use Is to include a product or Is Not to exclude it.
Order Source
Specify where the order was placed. Options include External, Form, Membership, Order Form, Payment Link, Store, or Survey. Use Is or Is Not operators.
Sub-Source
Refine the Order Source further by targeting a specific funnel, page, or other subcategory within the main source.
In Funnel/Website
Trigger the workflow only when the order form is submitted through a particular funnel or website.
Page Is
Specify a exact page where the order was submitted.
Submission Type
Filter based on the type of submission, such as a primary purchase or an upsell.
Product Price
Set conditions based on the price of the purchased product.
Enable “Allow Multiple”
It is a best practice to enable the Allow Multiple option for this trigger. This ensures the workflow can run multiple times for the same contact if they make additional purchases, which is essential for handling upsells and bumps effectively.
