Creating an Affiliate Campaign

Affiliate campaigns are a powerful way to grow your business by partnering with others to promote your products or services. This guide walks you through setting up a new affiliate campaign within your CRM, covering everything from selecting the source to configuring commissions and publishing.

Step-by-Step Setup Guide

Step 1: Navigate and Initiate

Go to the Campaigns area in your CRM and click the + Add button to start creating a new affiliate campaign.

Step 2: Select a Campaign Source

Choose the source for your campaign. This is the location where the products or services you want affiliates to promote are housed. Your options include a sales funnel, a website, or an online store.

Step 3: Configure Source Details

After selecting a source, you can also specify a landing page where potential customers will arrive. The CRM will then generate a default campaign URL. This URL contains a unique token (like <<affiliate_id>>) that is automatically replaced with each affiliate's personal ID to create their unique tracking link.

Important Note: Direct product sales through affiliate campaigns are currently supported for funnels, websites, and stores. You can also track and pay affiliates for generating leads from other sources like forms, surveys, and calendars.

Step 4: Review Your Product List

The system will display the products available from your chosen source. Review this list and add or remove items to ensure only the products you wish to offer commissions on are included in the campaign.

Step 5: Set a Default Commission

Define the standard commission rate for this campaign. You can set this as a flat dollar amount or as a percentage of the product's sale price.

Step 6: Customize Product-Level Commissions (Optional)

If you want different commission rates for specific products, you can override the default commission here. This allows for tailored payouts based on individual product value.

Step 7: Enable Multi-Tier Commissions

For more complex structures, you can enable multi-tier commissions. Navigate to the Advanced Commissions settings to turn this on. The system supports commission chains with multiple tiers.

Step 8: Configure Tier-Specific Commissions

If multi-tier is enabled, you must define the commission for each tier. You can apply the default rate to all tiers or set custom percentages or flat fees for each level.

Step 9: Add a Campaign Description (Optional)

You can write a description for the campaign. This is useful for internal notes or to provide context to affiliates you invite directly.

Step 10: Assign Affiliates Directly

You can manually assign existing affiliates to this campaign from this section. You'll see details like their join date before adding them.

Step 11: Adjust Additional Settings

Fine-tune your campaign with various optional settings, which may include:

  • Selecting email templates for onboarding new affiliates.
  • Setting the cookie duration for tracking referrals.
  • Defining payout terms and conditions.
  • Choosing whether to include setup fees in commission calculations.
  • Enabling or disabling sub-affiliate signups.
  • Auto-enrolling new customers as sub-affiliates.

Step 12: Publish or Save as Draft

Once your configuration is complete, you can either Publish the campaign to activate it immediately or Save as Draft to continue editing later.

Editing an Existing Campaign's Source

You can change the source of a published affiliate campaign if needed, for instance, if the original funnel or website was deleted.

Important: Changing the source will generate a new affiliate referral URL. The old link will no longer track sales, and only the new URL will be valid moving forward.

What to do after a source change:

  • Notify all assigned affiliates that their referral links have been updated.
  • Instruct them to start using the new links immediately to ensure they continue to earn commissions.

Please note that changing the source does not affect other campaign settings or historical performance data.
