Using Redirection Links with Countdown Timers

Redirection links are dynamic URLs that automatically change their destination based on the status of a countdown timer. When a user clicks the link:

  • If the timer is active: The user is sent to your primary page, such as a live offer or event registration.
  • If the timer has expired: The user is redirected to an alternative page, like an "Offer Expired" notification or a waitlist sign-up form.

Countdown timers are not always obviously clickable to users. Using a redirection link on a more prominent element, such as a button with a clear call-to-action (e.g., "Click Here to Save") or a linked image, makes the interactive element more intuitive.

This feature is also particularly useful when embedding a timer into a builder outside of the CRM, as you can simply copy the redirection link and apply it to any element you wish.

The method for accessing the redirection link depends on where you are using the countdown timer.

In the Countdown Timer Section

Navigate to Marketing > Countdown Timer. After creating or editing a timer, you will find a Copy Link button to copy the redirection URL.

In the Email Builder

When building an email, go to the Settings for the countdown timer element. There, you will find an option to Copy Redirection Link.

In Funnels, Websites, or Stores

If a countdown timer is placed on a page within a funnel, website, or online store, the redirection to the expired page is configured automatically as part of the page settings. The timer functions as a global countdown, meaning it will not restart upon page refresh and will redirect users to the expiry URL once the timer reaches zero.

How to Create a Timer with Redirection

Follow these steps to set up a countdown timer that uses redirection links.

  1. Go to Marketing > Countdown Timer.
  2. Configure the timer's properties, including the date and time it should expire.
  3. In the settings, specify the Active Link. This is the URL users will be taken to if the timer is still running.
  4. Specify the Expired Link. This is the URL users will be taken to after the timer has ended.
  5. Save the timer.

Once saved, the timer's redirection link will automatically direct users to the appropriate page based on the timer's current status.

Frequently Asked Questions

You can copy the redirection link after you have specified both the active and expired URLs for the timer.

The ability to copy a link for use outside the CRM is not available for all timer types. To use a redirection link within an email built in the CRM's builder, you can copy the link directly from the email builder settings for the timer element.
