Customizing Your Website Chat Widget
Introduction to Chat Widget Customization
The chat widget in your CRM is a powerful tool for engaging website visitors. You can now fully customize its placement, appearance, and messaging to match your brand and improve user experience. This guide outlines the available customization settings.
Creating and Accessing the Widget
To begin customizing, navigate to Sites and then select Chat Widget. Click New to create a new widget. You will be prompted to choose a widget type, such as SMS/Email, Live Chat, or WhatsApp Chat. After creation, you can access its customization options.
Customizing the Widget Appearance
Go to the Widget section to adjust the look and feel. This area provides several controls:
- Chat Launcher: Enable or disable a prompt message on the launcher to encourage visitors to start a chat.
- Chat Icon: Select an icon for the widget button that aligns with your brand.
- Theme: Apply a predefined theme or manually customize colors and styling.
- Visitor Messages: Set different introductory messages for first-time and returning visitors.
- Avatar Images: Upload images to represent your agents or support team.
- Placement: Choose where the widget button appears on your site, such as the bottom left or bottom right corner.
- Dimensions: Set the widget size to Auto or specify custom width and height values.
Configuring the Chat Window
The Chat Window settings control the static elements visitors see when the chat opens.
- Set a title and introductory message for the window.
- Enable an option for visitors to provide their email address.
- Customize the text on the call-to-action button.
- Add your branding and include legal consent text, such as for HIPAA compliance.
Performance and Loading Options
You can control when the chat widget loads on your website to optimize performance.
- Load on user interaction: When enabled, the widget only loads after a visitor interacts with your site (e.g., scrolls, clicks) or automatically after approximately 8 seconds if no interaction occurs.
- Disabled: The widget loads immediately when the page loads, which is the existing default behavior.
Setting Up Messaging and Language
The Messaging section allows for further customization of communication.
- Add your support contact details.
- Configure acknowledgement messages and greeting text.
- Select the default language for the chat widget interface.
Important Notes
- If you were already using a chat widget, it will appear in the widget list, typically indicated with a light blue color for identification.
- The standard WordPress plugin currently supports the default widget. The ability to select a specific custom widget through the plugin is planned for a future update.
