Configuring Taxes and Processing Fees for Services
About Taxes and Processing Fees
Your CRM allows you to add manual taxes and custom processing fees to your calendar-based services. This feature helps you present clear, itemized pricing to customers while maintaining accurate internal financial records. Each service automatically creates a linked product where you can configure tax rates, and you can optionally add percentage-based processing fees directly to the service.
Benefits of Using Taxes and Fees
Implementing taxes and processing fees offers several advantages:
- Cost Recovery: Pass through payment processing costs with clearly labeled fees
- Compliance: Meet local tax regulations using accurate manual tax rates
- Consistency: Maintain aligned totals across booking pages, appointment records, and receipts
- Transparency: Show customers itemized totals before payment to reduce confusion
Understanding Processing Fees
Processing fees (also called miscellaneous charges) are percentage-based additions you can configure for each service. These fees typically cover payment processing costs or convenience charges. You can customize both the percentage amount and the label that appears to customers.
The processing fee appears as a separate line item on booking forms and payment receipts, helping customers understand exactly what they're paying for.
Understanding Manual Taxes
Manual taxes are applied through the product linked to each service. Since every service automatically creates a corresponding product, you can assign one or more tax rates to that product to ensure proper tax calculation whenever the service is booked.
Where Taxes and Fees Appear
Customers and your team will see taxes and processing fees in several places:
- On public booking forms, itemized above the total amount
- Within appointment modals for staff viewing, including payment details
- On sales receipts emailed to customers (when receipts are enabled)
- In appointment records for internal reporting and clarity
Setting Up Taxes and Processing Fees
Follow these steps to configure taxes and fees for your services:
- Navigate to Settings → Calendars → Services and select the service you want to edit

Future bookings will automatically include the configured fee and tax lines on booking pages, appointment records, and receipts.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use different fees for different services?
Yes. Fees are configured per service, so each service can have its own percentage and custom label.
Do tax or fee changes affect past bookings?
No. Changes only affect new bookings going forward. Previously completed bookings and receipts remain unchanged.
Where can I export reports of collected fees and taxes?
Go to Payments → Transactions → Export CSV (and Orders CSV if used). The export includes columns for fee amounts, labels, and taxes to support reconciliation.
How do discounts and deposits affect the total?
Discounts reduce the taxable base on the linked product and may affect the fee calculation if the fee is percentage-based. For deposits, the appointment modal and receipts show what was collected versus what remains.
