Controlling Marketplace App Access for Sub-Accounts

About Managing App Permissions

As a white-label agency, you can control which third-party marketplace apps are available for your sub-accounts to view and install. This guide explains how to approve or disapprove individual apps in bulk, and how to enable or disable the marketplace entirely for your sub-accounts.

Accessing the App Permissions Manager

To begin managing app permissions:

  1. Navigate to App Marketplace from the left-hand menu in your agency account.
  2. If you do not see this option, you may need to enable it first from the Labs section.
  3. Once in the App Marketplace, click the Manage App Permissions button located in the top-right corner of the screen.

This area displays apps that are eligible for sub-account distribution. By default, all public and live apps are automatically approved for your sub-accounts.

Approving Apps for Sub-Accounts

Approving Individual Apps

To approve a specific app that is currently disapproved:

  1. Go to the app's detail page by clicking on its name.
  2. Click the approve button in the top-right corner.
  3. Confirm your action in the pop-up window that appears.

Once approved, the app will become visible and installable by your sub-account users.

Bulk Approving Multiple Apps

To approve several apps at once:

  1. Within the Manage App Permissions section, use the App state filter to select Disapproved apps.
  2. Check the boxes next to the apps you want to approve.
  3. Click the approve button at the top of the list.
  4. Confirm your decision in the modal window.

Disapproving Apps for Sub-Accounts

Disapproving Individual or Multiple Apps

To prevent sub-accounts from accessing certain apps:

  1. In the Manage App Permissions section, filter the list to show Approved apps.
  2. Select the apps you wish to disapprove.
  3. Click the disapprove button at the top of the list.
  4. A confirmation box will appear. Type CONFIRM into the field and then click the disapprove button to finalize.

Effects of Disapproving an App

When you disapprove an app:

  • It is immediately hidden from the App Marketplace for all sub-accounts.
  • If the app was previously installed in any sub-account, it will be automatically uninstalled. This removal includes any associated features like custom conversation providers or workflow actions.
  • You can re-approve a disapproved app at any time, but sub-accounts will need to manually reinstall it.

Enabling or Disabling the Entire Marketplace

Disabling Marketplace Access

To completely turn off the App Marketplace for your sub-accounts:

  1. Go to the App Marketplace and click Manage App Permissions.
  2. Click the settings icon (gear) in the top-right corner.
  3. In the settings panel, deselect the option labeled allow sub-accounts to view and install apps built by 3rd party developers.
  4. Click Save.

After disabling this option:

  • Sub-accounts will no longer see any third-party apps. Their App Marketplace menu will instead display a message instructing them to contact their agency administrator.
  • All apps will be marked as disapproved.
  • Any apps previously installed in sub-accounts will be uninstalled.

Re-enabling Marketplace Access

To allow sub-accounts to access the marketplace again:

  1. Navigate back to Manage App Permissions and click the settings icon.
  2. Select the checkbox for allow sub-accounts to view and install apps built by 3rd party developers.
  3. Click Save.

When you re-enable the marketplace:

  • All new public apps will be automatically approved for your sub-accounts.
  • Apps that were approved before the marketplace was disabled will become available again.
  • Apps that were manually disapproved will remain in that state until you approve them.
