Using Bot Detection for Accurate Email Analytics
Overview
Accurate email marketing data is essential for measuring the true success of your campaigns. Automated bots can sometimes open or click on emails, which artificially inflates your engagement statistics and can even trigger automations meant for real contacts. To protect the integrity of your data, the CRM includes a bot detection feature that identifies and filters out this non-human activity.
What Bot Detection Does
When the system identifies that an email open or click was generated by a bot, it automatically takes two important actions:
- Prevents Statistics Inflation: The open and click counts for that email will not increase. This ensures your campaign reports reflect engagement from real people only.
- Blocks Automation Execution: Any workflow or automation that is set to trigger based on an email open or click will not run if the activity came from a bot. This prevents unnecessary workflow triggers and keeps your automations running as intended.
Note: This feature is currently only available for sub-accounts using the built-in CRM email system or Mailgun as their SMTP provider.
How to Enable or Disable Bot Detection
By default, this feature is turned off. You can manage it from your Business Profile settings.
Step 1: Access Business Profile Settings
Navigate to Settings and then select Business Profile.
Step 2: Find the General Section
Within the Business Profile, scroll to the area labeled General.
Step 3: Toggle the Setting
In the General section, you will find the option for Bot Detection Prevention. Check the box to enable the feature, or uncheck it to disable it. Any changes you make will take effect immediately for all emails sent after the change.
