Scheduling YouTube Shorts and Videos in Social Planner

YouTube is a powerful platform for reaching your audience. Using the Social Planner, you can schedule and publish both standard videos and YouTube Shorts directly from your CRM.

Creating and Scheduling a YouTube Post

Follow these steps to schedule a video or short.

  1. Navigate to Marketing > Social Planner.
  2. Connect your YouTube account via Google Integrations. You must select the specific account. To confirm you have a YouTube channel, sign into your YouTube account settings; your channel will be listed, or you will see an option to create one.
Note: The connection to YouTube remains active until you manually disconnect it.
  3. Click on Create New Post.
  4. Choose the YouTube channel you want to post to.
  5. In the caption field, write your video description. You can include hashtags and emojis.
  6. Select the type of content you are posting: Video or Shorts.
  7. Enter a title for your video or short. When you select the Shorts option, #shorts is automatically added to the title.
  8. Set the privacy level for the video: Public, Private, or Unlisted.
  9. Optionally, you can add a follow-up comment that will be posted after the video is published.
  10. Finally, choose the date and time to schedule your post.

Video and Short Specifications

Keep these technical requirements in mind when preparing your content.

  • File Size: Videos and shorts can be up to 1GB in size.
  • Thumbnails: For verified users, custom thumbnails are supported for standard YouTube videos. They must be in PNG or JPEG format and cannot exceed 2MB. Thumbnails are not supported for YouTube Shorts.
  • Shorts: Shorts have a maximum length of 3 minutes and must be in a vertical aspect ratio. A 9:16 ratio is recommended.

Important Note on Account Permissions

There is a current limitation from YouTube regarding account access. Only the primary owner of a YouTube channel can connect it to third-party tools like the Social Planner. Users with "Manager" access or other delegated roles cannot authorize this connection through the API.

If you are a manager, you must ask the primary owner of the channel to connect the account within the Social Planner. Once the account is connected, you can manage and schedule content based on your assigned permissions.
