Connecting Shippo for Shipping and Live Rates
You can connect the Shippo shipping platform to your CRM's e-commerce store to provide customers with live shipping rates and purchase shipping labels. This guide walks you through the setup process.
Prerequisites in Your Shippo Account
Before connecting the integration in your CRM, you must configure several key components within your Shippo account.
Generate a Live API Token in Shippo
First, you need to create an API token in Shippo to authorize the connection.
- Log into your Shippo account.
- Navigate to Settings, then go to Advanced and select API.
- Locate the section for Live Token and click to generate a new one.
- Copy this generated live token. You will need it later to connect the app in your CRM.
Configure Package Templates
Define the packages you will use for shipping your products.
- In Shippo, go to Settings, then Shipping, and select Packages.
- Click Add New Template.
- You can either enter custom dimensions or select a standard carrier-provided parcel type.
- If you choose a standard parcel, you must define the package weights in this template.
- You can mark a template as your default option by checking the corresponding box.
Set Up Your Shipping Origin Address
Configure the address from which your orders will be shipped.
- In Shippo, go to Settings and then Address book.
- Under Sender & return, click Add New address.
- Enter your complete business address. You can select this address as your default sender and return address if needed.
Configure Shipping Options and Rates
Set up how shipping rates will be calculated and displayed to customers at checkout.
- In Shippo, navigate to Settings, then Shipping, and select Rates at Checkout.
- Click Add Shipping option.
- Choose the Live rate option and select your preferred carrier services.
- You have the option to add a markup to the live rates. This can be a percentage or a fixed amount.
- You can also define a fallback flat delivery fee in case live rates cannot be fetched.
- The name you give this shipping option in Shippo will be displayed to customers on the checkout page.
Set Shipping Origin in Your CRM Store
You must also define your shipping origin within your CRM's e-commerce settings. This address must match the valid sender address you set up in Shippo.
- In your CRM dashboard, go to the Payments section.
- Navigate to Settings and then Shipping Origin.
- Enter your business address details and save. An invalid address here will cause errors when trying to purchase shipping labels later.
Install and Connect the Shippo App
Now you are ready to connect the integration within your CRM.
- Go to the Marketplace or Integrations page within your CRM's Settings.
- Search for the Shippo app and install it.
- After installation, you will be prompted to enter your Shippo Live Token. Paste the token you copied earlier.
- After entering the token, the system will verify your Shippo configuration. If your package templates, shipping origin, and shipping options in Shippo are set up correctly, you can proceed to enable live rates.
- If any part of the Shippo setup is incomplete, an error message will appear, and you will need to complete the missing steps in your Shippo account.
Enable or Disable Live Shipping Rates
Once the connection is successful, you can control whether live rates are active.
- In the Shippo app settings within your CRM, you will find a checkbox to enable or disable live shipping rates.
- Check the box to enable rates, or uncheck it to disable them and use flat rates instead.
- After making your selection, click Save to apply the change.
Your Shippo integration is now complete. Customers will see live, carrier-calculated shipping rates at checkout based on your configured options.
