How to Track Gift Card Performance (Analytics & Metric Tracking)

Understanding Your Gift Card Analytics Dashboard

The Gift Card Analytics dashboard provides a comprehensive overview of your gift card program's performance. You can access this dashboard by navigating to PaymentsGift Cards in your CRM. This centralized view helps you track key metrics, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions about your gift card offerings.

Key Benefits of Using Gift Card Analytics

  • Quick Performance Assessment: Get an immediate snapshot of how many cards have been issued, their total value, and which denominations are most popular.
  • Informed Promotional Decisions: Use data on top-performing denominations to optimize your marketing campaigns and product bundles.
  • Streamlined Auditing: Quickly navigate from high-level metrics to individual gift card orders to verify details like balance, status, and customer information.

Applying Filters and Date Ranges

The dashboard allows you to filter data using the controls located in the top left corner. The default view is set to This Month, but you can choose from predefined ranges like Today, Yesterday, Last 7 Days, Last 30 Days, This Month, or Last Month. You can also set a custom date range. These filters apply consistently whether you are viewing the main dashboard, the Gift Card Products page, or the All Orders page.

Key Metrics Explained

Total Gift Cards Issued

This number represents the total quantity of gift cards created within your selected date range. It includes both cards sold through a checkout process and cards sent directly to recipients. This metric helps you gauge the overall adoption and usage of your gift card program.

Total Value of Gift Cards Issued

This figure shows the combined monetary value of all gift cards issued. A trend chart accompanies this metric, illustrating how the total value has changed over time. This is useful for identifying seasonal trends or the impact of specific marketing campaigns.

Average Order Value (AOV)

The Average Order Value indicates the typical amount spent per gift card transaction. Monitoring this helps you understand whether customers prefer lower or higher-value gift cards.

Number of Unique Customers

This metric counts the distinct individuals who have either purchased or been sent a gift card. It is a valuable indicator of your program's reach and can help measure customer acquisition through gifting.

Top Denominations & Popularity Chart

This section highlights your best-selling gift card amounts. It identifies the single most frequently issued denomination and provides a chart of the top five denominations. These insights are crucial for planning inventory and deciding which price points to promote.

Drilling Down into Gift Card Orders

From the analytics dashboard, you can navigate to the Gift Card Orders page, which lists every gift card that has been sold or sent. Each entry shows the card's status, remaining balance, and associated customer details. You can click on any gift card to view its detailed order page, which serves as the definitive record for that card. Additional filters on this page allow you to sort orders by contact, status, or denomination.

Frequently Asked Questions

How are scheduled gift cards counted?

Gift cards that are scheduled for future issuance are included in the dashboard totals for the date range in which they are set to be issued. You can use the Status filter to view only Scheduled or Active gift cards.

What is the difference between the Gift Card Orders page and the main Orders page?

The Gift Card Orders page (found within Payments → Gift Cards) tracks every instance of a gift card being issued or purchased. The general Orders page in the CRM only records completed financial transactions.

Do test mode transactions appear in the analytics?

No. Gift cards created while your CRM is in Test mode do not affect the data or metrics shown in the live Gift Card Dashboard.
