Understanding Geographic Analytics in Sites

Understanding Geographic Analytics

Geographic Analytics is a visual tool within your CRM that helps you understand where your website or funnel visitors are located. It presents your traffic data on an interactive map and a ranked list, allowing you to drill down from a country view to individual states and cities. This feature updates in real-time, letting you see trends and hotspots as they develop without needing to refresh the page.

Key Features and How to Use Them

Interactive Drill-Down Map

The central feature is a color-coded map. Areas with higher visitor traffic are shaded more intensely, providing an immediate visual indicator of key regions. You can interact with the map by hovering your cursor over any shaded state or city to see the exact number of visitors from that location.

Geographic Level Selector

Above the map, a dropdown menu lets you switch the view between Country, State, and City levels. Changing this selection instantly updates both the map and the accompanying data lists, allowing you to focus your analysis at the desired geographic detail.

Ranked Lists and Totals

To the side of the map, you will find a list ranking the top locations for the currently selected geographic level (e.g., top states or top cities) by visitor count. This list updates automatically when you change the drill-down level. A total visitor count for the selected geographic scope is also displayed, giving you context for the data you're analyzing.

Accessing Geographic Analytics

To view your geographic traffic data, follow these steps:

  1. From your CRM dashboard, navigate to Sites using the main menu.
  2. Click on the Analytics tab at the top of the page.
  3. On the Analytics page, locate the Geographic Analytics card, typically found below the Page Views section.

Once there, you can use the dropdown to select a geographic level, hover over the map for details, and review the ranked list to identify your highest-traffic areas.

Common Questions

Is any special setup required?

No. If your site analytics are already collecting page view data, the Geographic Analytics feature will be populated automatically. No additional tracking code is needed.

How current is the data on the map?

The visitor counts and map visualizations update as new session data is recorded. The display refreshes automatically, providing a near real-time view without requiring a manual page reload.

What data does it show?

The analytics reflect the context you have selected on the main Analytics page. This means you can view data for a specific website, a specific funnel, or for all sites and funnels combined, based on your chosen filters and date range.
